After you have mastered the basics, it’s time to take your skills to the next level:
The beachstart is an essential skill which allows you the get on your board without using the uphaul cord. This will not only make your windsurfing more dynamic but also teaches you the basic of wind awareness and is the key to learning the waterstart.
The waterstart is one of the most important windsurf skills you have to master to progress to the next level as your board may be too small to allow uphauling, or the conditions may make it to difficult to balance on your board.
Using a harness
This course will teach you how to properly use a windsurfing harness. Using a harness will save your energy and is essential for providing stability when planning at high speed. It will allow you to use your body as leverage and take the weight of your arms
Using the footstraps
Once you know how to use a harness and start increasing your speed, you need to know how to use the footstraps. The footstraps will give you a better control of your board at speed and use a bigger sail.
Planing is where the board skims along the surface of the water. Experiencing this feeling is for many the point where they get hooked on this amazing sport. To get planning you need to know how to use the harness and the footstraps first.
Once you know how to use the footstraps and going fast (plane), you are ready to learn the ‘Power Jibe’ (or Carve Jibe/Step Jibe). This move will allow you to maintain speed through corners and is the foundation for many other carving tricks.
An intermediate course is a 1-hour group lesson (max 3. persons). Equipment and insurance are included.
