BEGINNERS This is the place. Period. Rarely do you see all the components that benefit the beginner come together at one venue. The water is wonderfully warm. No wetsuit required. It's clear enough to find a coin on the bottom that just dropped out of your pocket. The bottom is white sand with virtually no rocks or other underwater obstructions to step on or kick.

INTERMEDIATES So, you're working on your jibes. Want to get them wired? Go to Bonaire. One of the typical obstacles in learning to jibe is maneuvering that board around into waterstart position again after you blow it. Just like the beginner having to uphaul after taking numerous plunges, it's way too tiring. Not in Bonaire. That shallow water is a blessing. Working on your jumps and chop hops? Go a little farther out into the bay and there are superb little wind swells off which to fly. Trying to sail faster? Pick a line along the outside reef where the water is dead flat and learn to pressure your feet, rake your sail and get your harness lines dialed.

ADVANCED SAILORS Think Bonaire is all about flat water? Think again. What's just outside that big reef that stands watch over Lac Bay? Open ocean. Big swells. BIG! And waves. Lots of waves. When the surf is big, the water that pours in over the reef into the bay surges out, and the huge masses of rushing water meet with the outside ocean swells and wind, creating a series of head- to double-mast-high waves. It's there, and when it goes off, the earth moves! This recent discovery promotes Bonaire to an elite and very short list of windsurfing destinations that truly cater to every level of sailor, from beginner to expert.
